Life with No Limits!
The Neuromuscular Adult camp was first started by the Griffin family in 2009. John (also known as Happy) and his wife Jamie, saw a need for a camp where adults with the neuromuscular disorder called Muscular Dystrophy could enjoy a week with others in with the same disorder. In partnership with Twin Cedars Camp, the No Limits Neuromuscular Camp was created.
Muscular Dystrophy is a muscle wasting disease, which causes weakness of the muscles and many times limits people from doing every day things on their own. There are many forms of the neurological disease and many different variants of it, as some are affected more than others.
Volunteer camp counselors are assigned to each camper, and assist them for the entire week with any needs they may have,
Some of the activities campers are involved in are:
-
Swimming
-
Paddle boating
-
Fishing
-
Paint balling
-
Horseback riding
-
Zip lining
-
Power Soccer
-
...and the list goes on!

Camp Activities
Daily activities vary and campers are given several options as to what they prefer to do during the day.
Every evening campers participate in a different activity that allow for fun times and memories! Evenings begin with restaurant meals or dinners which given at a low cost or donated.
Evening activities typically go as follows:
-
Sunday - Tree dedication service, where the camp family remembers those who are no longer with us, Usually followed by night fishing and catching up.
-
Monday - Casino night; We are thankful for Elk Lodge and Casino who pay camp a visit and set up casino night. Campers play their luck and win prizes!
-
Tuesday - Drive in Movie night; Campers enjoy a late night swim or waterfront activities, followed by a movie, with snacks from AMC Theaters.
-
Wednesday - Talent Show; Cabins each perform a skit together and campers are able to showcase their own talents as well.
-
Thursday - Dance; Last night of camp is always bittersweet, Jammin Jeff sets up his lights and DJ booth for a night full of fun and dance. Usually followed by the "after party," where campers and counselors mingle until bedtime.
